Dental Implants

Dental implants are a permanent solution to replace missing or extracted teeth. They are the ideal treatment for tooth replacement.

The first part of the process is to install the implant itself, which is a screw-like artificial tooth root placed into the jaw bone. The implant will hold the replacement tooth or bridge in place. The implant must be allowed anywhere from 3-6 months to heal, and during this time the jaw bone will grow around the implant and form in stable connection between the jaw bone and the implant. During this healing time, a temporary replacement can be fabricated so that you do not have to go without the appearance of the tooth.

After the implant has healed, an impression is taken of the position of the implant in order to make the abutment and crown. The abutment is connected to the implant itself and serves as the base to which the crown is attached. The crown can be cemented or screwed into place, and after is put in place, you care for the implant and crown just like the rest of your teeth.
