A complete denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and the tissue connected to those teeth. It is made of acrylic and made to resemble very closely natural gum tissue and teeth.

A partial denture is made for people who still have some of their natural teeth. Partials fill in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevent other teeth from shifting.

It is important to continue having regular dental checkups so that your dentist can examine oral tissues for signs of disease or cancer. With time, your mouth will continue to change as the bone under your denture shrinks or recedes. To maintain a proper fit over time, it may be necessary to reline your denture or possibly remake your denture.

How do you care for a denture?

Remove and brush the denture daily with liquid dish or hand soap and a very soft brush or washcloth.

Avoid using hot water to clean the denture. This may cause the denture to change shape.

If you wear a partial denture, remove it before brushing your natural teeth.

When you're not wearing the denture, soak it in denture cleanser or water.

To avoid misplacing your denture, store it in the same place after removal

Research has shown that removing the denture for at least eight hours during either the day or night allows the gum tissue to rest and allows normal stimulation and cleansing by the tongue and saliva. This promotes better long-term health of the gums.
